LaRue County Schools will host a school safety forum at 6 p.m. Oct. 23 in the auditorium of LaRue County High School.

“There is nothing more important than the safety of our students, staff and visitors,” said LCS Superintendent David Raleigh. “The forum is an opportunity for the entire LaRue County community to come together to share concerns, ask questions and learn more about the measures we’ve taken to enhance school safety.”

Among those measure is hiring School Resource Deputy (SRD) Brandon Boone. Boone, who started Oct. 8, serves the district’s four schools and is based at LaRue County High School.

Boone will attend the safety forum, along with district leadership and Jon Akers, Executive Director of the Kentucky Center for School Safety.

From an advanced surveillance system, to careful visitor protocols, to the newly implemented hallway navigation system FastPath, the district has developed multiple safety initiatives, said LCS Director of Pupil Personnel Rip Collins.

“Across the district, we are continuously looking for ways to enhance safety, and the forum is one way we can involve the community in these efforts,” Collins said.

District officials also expressed gratitude for local first responders, who work with the schools to ensure a safe learning environment.

“We are so grateful that making our schools even safer is a priority for all stakeholders,” Raleigh said. “I encourage any parents or community members who has concerns or wants to learn more to join us at the forum Oct. 23.”
